To do this, start at the pedestrian traffic lights at Strohmarkt, where the upper main street\/pedestrian zone begins: you will soon reach the mighty <b>collegiate church<\/b> on your right, the landmark of Neustadt, with the largest cast steel bell in the world. Behind the church is the <b>market square<\/b>, lined with restaurants and caf\u00e9s. Ask for the <b>Hintergasse<\/b> with the Gerberhaus, the <b>Mittelgasse<\/b> and the <b>Elwedritschen fountain<\/b> (named after Neustadt&#8217;s mythical creatures, the Elwedritschen). Everything within walking distance in minutes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"block\">\n<p>Neustadt&#8217;s charm can also be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neustadt.eu\/Tourismus-Wein\/Sehenswertes-F%C3%BChrungen\/F%C3%BChrungen-Reiseleitungen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n  <strong>on a guided tour through the historic old town.<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/a> expand.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Back at the Strohmarkt, walk up the steps through the stone archway to reach Villenstra\u00dfe. Take the stairway to the right of the school, which leads you past villas and gardens to the &#8220;Haardt&#8221; district. Do not turn right onto Haardt, but keep left uphill, this is the beginning of the <b>Sonnenweg<\/b>, which leads past the<b>&#8220;Welschterrassen<\/b>&#8221; park (you could also make a detour here).<\/p>\n<p>If you continue along the Sonnenweg, you will soon be above the rooftops of Neustadt and will quickly recognize the town&#8217;s landmark, the collegiate church, and other details discovered in the town center. On a clear day, you have a panoramic view across the Rhine plain to the Odenwald forest opposite. <\/p>\n<p> If you fancy a shorter walk, take the Sonnenweg to the end and return the same way.<br \/>If you want to extend your destination to the <b>Wolfsburg ruins<\/b>, turn right at the end of the Sonnenweg and head uphill into the forest. After an easy 20-minute climb, you reach the castle ruins, which are accessible.
